Church by Licence this fifteenth day of October in the year One Thousand

| William was dead by 1838 when his daughter Catherine married Richard Herbert Townshend. We therefore cannot get any guide to age from the census. However he was probably born between 1750 and 1760 (i.e. mid 20s to mid 30s when he got married). There appear to be three possibilities from the Halifax baptismal records. | ||

| So far we have not been able to determine which is our William (indeed if he is one of these at all). But William did write in the Family Bible and it is therefore possible that the prime candidate is the son of the bookbinder. | ||
